Creative Disruptor AND CHANGEMAKER. 

Natasha Trotman MA(RCA), MCSD, FRSA, FIEDP, is an international Equalities Designer and creative in residence at Somerset House (studio 48), whose practice explores extending the frontiers of knowledge around mental difference, which includes non-typical ways of being, bodyminds and marginalised experiences, in addition to also reframing mainstream notions of equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion. This is done via an intersectional design lens; involving the forming of physical interactions through investigative play and policy design. A Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, a member of the Chartered Society of Designers, and a Fellow of the Institute of Equality, Diversity Practitioners (FIEDP). 

Natasha has worked with neurodiverse communities and people with varied abilities, including dyspraxic and autistic persons, as well as those living with a dementia. She has also worked with their carers and supporters.

Natasha completed a Master's in Information Experience Design at the Royal College of Art. Previously working as a Research Associate at The Royal College of Art’s Helen Hamlyn Centre for Inclusive Design (HHCD) as well as at The Wellcome Collection Hub on the Wellcome Trust and HHCD Design and The Mind Research 2 year project focused on engagement and co-creation with neurodiverse groups and neurodivergent individuals. They have exhibited widely.

She is also a SEN/D and therapeutic arts practitioner, working with disabled children and young people in workshop settings where investigative sensorial play is used to explore and build on sensory repertoires.

Natasha has been selected as one of the British Council’s 10x10 emerging designers and has also been honoured with a place on the Shaw Trusts 100 power list in 2019 and 2020, Sitting on the Judging panel in 2021-2023. Natasha is also a NASA Aeronautics Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Practitioner; most recently, she was nominated for a Genuis Within Stereotype Buster Award in 2022 and 2023.

Natasha’s practice involves creating multi-modal offerings, interactions, workshops and exhibits for Clients such as Wellcome, The British Council, The London Design Biennale, The V&A, The National Gallery, Tate Britain, The Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at The Royal College of Art (RCA), The RCA, RIBA, Scope Birmingham and Heart n Soul, Disability Arts In Shropshire (DASH).
